Stacked wavy retro letter bundle

Wavy Stacker

Wavy Stacker is a bundle of retro stacked letter sets: each style repeats a word several times in a wave that bends across the lines, mixes colours line by line, and offers six variants from a filled wave to an outline, a soft pastel and a kraft-paper version, so the sheet reads as a set of ready-made retro lockups.

Visual anatomy & craft review

Letterform structure
of Wavy Stacker.

Every panel on the sheet shows the same idea handled differently: a word is repeated three to five times, each repetition offset and rotated a little so the block bends, and the colours change per line, which makes the stack read as a rainbow rather than as a single face. The letterforms themselves are a chunky rounded retro sans with thick strokes and small counters, and the wave comes from the arrangement rather than from the drawing, which is why each variant can share the same skeleton. The bundle also includes versions where the letters are hollow with a thin contour, one where the fill is a soft gradient, and one printed on a kraft ground, and the sheet labels each panel with a small tracked caption. The result is a product for people who want a finished retro lockup rather than an alphabet to set.

Birthday

Poster for a roller disco night

A stacked wavy lockup delivers the seventies retro look in one file, and the repeated lines fill a poster without needing an illustration or a second typeface.

Hierarchy & layout recipe

A2 portrait: the stack at 160 mm wide with four repeats, the details in a 12 mm rounded sans, and a 6 mm border. Keep the colours to three and place the stack in the upper two thirds so the details sit on plain ground.

Pre-production check

Check the stack at full size, where the tight repeats can merge into a block of colour; keep one line of white space between repeats. Confirm the 12 mm details read at two metres and that the stack still reads at thumbnail size in a listing image.

Classroom & school

Banner for a school disco

A colourful stacked banner looks made for the event, and the outline variant keeps the poster legible when a school prints it in one colour on a cheap copier.

Hierarchy & layout recipe

A3 print: the outline stack at 250 mm wide with three repeats, the times in a 10 mm sans, and the ticket price in 14 mm. Keep to one colour plus paper so the outlined letters stay open on a photocopy.

Pre-production check

Check the outline stack on a copier, where a thin contour can drop out; thicken it for the print. Confirm the 10 mm times read at two metres and that the three repeats do not read as a printing error.

Brand & packaging

Label set for a sweet shop

A stacked retro lockup gives a sweet shop a family of labels without a designer redrawing each flavour, and the kraft variant costs nothing to print on a brown bag.

Hierarchy & layout recipe

Print 70 by 50 mm labels: the flavour name in the stack at 30 mm wide with two repeats, the weight in a 7 pt sans, and the shop name at 6 pt. Keep the stack to one colour on kraft so the label reads on a brown bag.

Pre-production check

Check the 7 pt weight on the kraft label, where the repeat lines can blur together; use two repeats at that size. Confirm the label reads on the bag under shop lighting and that the stack does not crowd the die line.
