Narrow outlined varsity slabs with clipped corners and an inner border
Varsity Narrow is a narrow athletic slab in which the capitals compress, the corners clip, the O turns an octagonal counter and a fine inner border runs inside the letter, so a long team name fits a narrow board.

Sturdy stroke walls and open counters weed cleanly on adhesive vinyl, HTV apparel film, and cut cardstock.
Visual anatomy & craft review
The R drops an angular leg, the O closes an octagonal counter, the B stacks two squared bowls and the fine border follows every contour at a constant distance, with separate filled and outlined examples on the cover. The inner border is the character: it thins the letter without reducing the outside size, which is why the sample pairs a filled word with an outlined one. Because the border is fine, the face wants 34 pt before it stays open, and the narrow proportions let a long name sit on one row. The pale ground and the small caption are presentation; the dark outlined slabs are the face.

Concrete hierarchy, scale and production guidance tailored to Varsity Narrow’s stroke geometry.
The narrow caps keep a long name on one row, and the inner border gives a printed banner depth at 70 mm across a vinyl sheet.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Print a two-metre banner: set the name at 70 mm on one row, keep the inner border at 1.5 mm, and keep 45 mm of border so the eyelets clear the letters.
Pre-production check
An inner border printed under 1 mm closes on a vinyl banner; check the proof and keep the line at 1.5 mm.
The clipped slabs suit a number plate, and the narrow forms leave room for a name beneath at 90 mm and 40 mm on one board.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Print a 400 by 300 mm board: set the number at 90 mm, set the name at 40 mm beneath with 22 mm of clear ground between them, and keep 30 mm of border all round.
Pre-production check
A number printed tight over a name crowds the slab feet; check the board and open the gap by 6 mm.
The outlined slabs translate into felt, and the narrow forms stay clear at 40 mm on a sew-on felt patch with a merrow edge.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Cut a 70 mm patch: set the club name at 40 mm, keep the inner border as a straight cut line, and leave 6 mm of border so the merrow does not eat the outline.
Pre-production check
A merrowed edge takes about 3 mm of border; check the artwork and keep every letter 6 mm inside the cut line.
