Chunky organic handwriting display
Scribbley is a chunky organic handwriting display in dark brown on cream: thick rounded letters with a wobbling outline, uneven heights, an open e and a looped y, set as one word with two small supporting lines beneath and a paragraph of tracked copy at the foot.

Visual anatomy & craft review
The word is set once, large, and the drawing is handwriting at a heavy weight: the strokes swell and shrink, the outlines bow, and the letters sit at slightly different angles, which keeps the block feeling drawn with a fat marker rather than set from a font. Because the weight is heavy, the face holds on fabric and at sign size, and the counters stay open enough for the word to read from a distance. The supporting lines beneath are set in a narrow caps face with wide tracking, which separates the levels without a second expressive voice, and the paragraph at the foot explains the intended use in a small roman. The palette is one ink on a warm cream, and the small brush swash above the word is the only ornament on the plate.

Concrete hierarchy, scale and production guidance tailored to Scribbley’s stroke geometry.
A chunky hand display reads as a marker-painted sign, and the heavy wobbling strokes hold on a board where a thin script would disappear among the produce.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Paint a 900 by 400 mm board: the stall name at 120 mm cap height, the prices in a 24 mm sans, and a 6 mm rule. Keep 25 mm margins and paint two colours on a light board so the wobble reads as brushwork.
Pre-production check
Check the board at four metres, where the uneven outlines can read as sloppy; keep the variation consistent across all letters. Confirm the 24 mm prices read at two metres and that the rule clears the eyelets.
A friendly hand display suits a food-led celebration, and the heavy stroke reads at card size where a light handwriting face would look faint.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
A6 card: the greeting at 28 pt, the details in a 9 pt sans, and a small swash. Keep 12 mm margins and print one ink on a cream card so the fat strokes stay solid at home-print resolution.
Pre-production check
Check the 28 pt greeting on a home printer, where a wobbling outline can fill; keep the counters above 2 mm. Confirm the 9 pt details keep a 4.5:1 contrast and that the swash clears the trim.
A hand display reads as a homemade notice, and the heavy letters survive the photocopier where a light face would grey out.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
A4 print: the headline at 40 mm cap height, the times in a 10 mm sans, and the stalls in 9 mm. Keep 20 mm margins and print one colour on coloured paper so the notice reads from a corridor.
Pre-production check
Check the A4 after a copier pass, where a thin join can break up; keep the weight heavy. Confirm the 9 mm stalls read at arm's length and that the headline fits the sheet.
