Serif with long swashes
Malerine is an elegant serif in cream over a dark portrait: high contrast, ball terminals and long drawn swashes that leave the first and last letters and loop across the whole word, with a small line beneath noting the regular and italic cuts.

Crisp hairline serifs shine on stationery, foil stamping, and packaging; add slight offset for small decals.
Visual anatomy & craft review
The word is set once, wide, and the drawing is a contrasted serif whose flourishes are structural: the first letter opens with a loop that rises above the cap height, the last closes with a tail that sweeps under the line, and the joins are drawn rather than spaced. That makes the face a display cut, and the specimen sets it large enough that each loop reads as a shape. The note beneath is set in a light caps face at a fraction of the size and names the two cuts, which is the practical information a buyer needs. Because the strokes are fine, the face works on a dark ground at display sizes, and the plate keeps the photograph quiet behind the block.

Concrete hierarchy, scale and production guidance tailored to Malerine’s stroke geometry.
A swashed serif gives a formal invitation a drawn flourish, and the fine contrast holds in foil on a heavy card where a heavier face would look blunt.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
A5 invitation: the names at 28 pt with the swashes engaged, the request in a 10 pt serif, and the date at 9 pt caps. Keep 26 mm margins so the loops have room, and foil one colour on a deep card.
Pre-production check
Check the 28 pt names in foil, where hairlines can break; keep them above 0.3 mm. Confirm the 10 pt request reads at arm's length and that the lowest loop clears the trim by 10 mm.
A swashed serif reads as luxury, and the drawn loops give a short name a signature that holds on a box, a bag and a card.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Set the mark at 18 mm on a box, 22 pt on a bag and 70 mm on a panel, using the swashes only above 18 pt. Keep one colour and reserve clear space equal to the loop height.
Pre-production check
Check the 18 mm box mark, where a fine loop can break; keep the size above 15 mm. Confirm the panel mark reads at four metres and that the loops stay inside the panel edge.
A swashed serif gives a cover movement, and the fine letters let a photograph show through the title rather than hiding it.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Set the masthead at 110 mm cap height across 210 mm, the cover lines in an 8 pt serif, and the issue at 7 pt. Print cream over a photograph and keep the type over the darkest area.
Pre-production check
Check the masthead at 110 mm, where a loop can collide with a cover line; keep 12 mm clear. Confirm the 7 pt issue survives lamination and that the masthead holds at thumbnail size.
