Ornate retro script with heavy joins and broad returning loops
De Augusta is an ornate retro script in which the letters stay heavy and connected, the entry strokes curl wide and a long loop leaves the word, passes beneath it and returns across, so a short name reads as a seventies badge.

Visual anatomy & craft review
The D opens one broad curling entry, the A lifts a heavy shoulder, the u keeps two even bowls and the g returns a low loop that travels under the whole word before it curls back over the baseline. The returning loop is the character: it frames the word from below, which is why the sample sets a two-word name in caps with clear air under the baseline. Because the loop is part of the letter, the face needs 1.25 inches of stacked height before the loop clears the descender line, and the swashes are reachable through the encoded alternates. The dark ground, the gold rules and the small caps credit are presentation; the pale script name is the face.

The returning loop supplies a badge's bottom rule for free, and the heavy joins hold at 40 mm inside a printed roundel where a light script would thin away to nothing.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Print a 90 mm roundel: set the name at 40 mm across the middle, let the returning loop form the lower border, and set the street and phone lines in a 7 pt caps outside the loop.
Pre-production check
The returning loop printed over a circular border reads as two lines fighting; check the roundel and keep 6 mm between the loop and any rule.
The retro weight sets the period of a feature, and the broad entry strokes fill a two-word heading at 54 pt on a printed spread.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Print an A4 spread: set the heading at 54 pt across the upper third, keep 14 mm below the loop before the standfirst, and set the standfirst at 11 pt in a neutral serif.
Pre-production check
An ornate heading set over a photograph loses its loop; check the spread and keep the heading on a plain band.
The heavy script carries a warm phrase, and the broad loops stay legible at 60 mm on a printed welcome sign in one colour.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Print a 420 by 300 mm sign: set the phrase at 60 mm on two lines, keep the returning loop of the first line clear of the second, and set the couple's names in a 16 pt caps beneath.
Pre-production check
Two stacked script lines with returning loops collide at the descender; check the sign and keep 25 mm between the lines.
