Visual anatomy & craft review
Dacota is a four-style layered Western Tuscan family with stacked bevel, inline and shadow builds, plus a bundle of hand-drawn banners, ropes and flourishes, so a headline is assembled as a sandwich rather than set as one line. The layers must register on top of each other, and the inline style only reads when the base colour sits behind it. It needs roughly 40 mm for the bevel and inline to stay open, and it is best in crimson and black on aged paper, or in two athletic colours on timber.

Layered Tuscan caps read as an antique broadside, which is what a Western-themed bar prints on a menu and a bottle. The sandwich builds give a short brand name the depth of a letterpressed poster, and the bundled ropes and banners let the layout be finished without a second artwork.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Menu 210 x 297 mm, word 90 mm in three layers, items 9/12 pt, 15 mm margins. Sign 900 x 400 mm, word 180 mm, 60 mm margins and 25 mm frame clearance. Label 80 x 60 mm, name 14 mm, 4 mm die margin.
Pre-production check
Three separate layers misregister by 0.3 mm on a digital press and the bevel shows a white ghost on one side. Supply the sandwich as a single flattened colour build, and check one proof at final size before the run.
Broadside Tuscan lettering reads as a fairground bill, which is what an autumn rodeo posts on a fence. The inline and shadow layers give the word depth from ten metres, and the bundled flourishes fill the empty panel a cheap one-colour print would leave.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Poster A1, word 300 mm, details 26/32 pt, 40 mm margins and 25 mm trim. Banner 2000 x 600 mm, word 340 mm, 120 mm margins with eyelets every 500 mm. Ticket 90 x 50 mm, word 12 mm, 3 mm margins.
Pre-production check
A pasted poster creases along the inline groove and the word splits into two halves when the wind lifts the sheet. Print on 150 gsm minimum and paste with a full coat, and check one poster after a windy day.
Stacked Western display reads as a themed stage backdrop, which is what a roots or country festival puts behind the band. The layers hold at 340 mm in vinyl, and the bundled banners let the programme carry the same look at 30 mm.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Backdrop 4000 x 2000 mm, word 700 mm with 300 mm margins. Programme A5, section 30 mm, acts 8/11 pt, 12 mm margins. Wristband 250 x 25 mm, word 8 mm with 4 mm margins and 3 mm clear of the seam.
Pre-production check
A stage banner printed in four colours at 700 mm shows the inline as a separate pass and a 2 mm registration drift turns the word into a double outline. Print the backdrop in two spot colours, and inspect one panel sewn up before the gates open.
