Heavy rounded lowercase with a sweeping c foot and closely joined double-t crossbars
Cottem sets a bold grotesque in lowercase, then lets the c break out of the line and sweep under the whole word as a flat curved tail, which turns a plain sans into a mark.

Sturdy stroke walls and open counters weed cleanly on adhesive vinyl, HTV apparel film, and cut cardstock.
Visual anatomy & craft review
The name sits in deep blue on pink, the o and the e keeping almost circular bowls and the t pair joined by a high bar. Everything is heavy and even until the c, which drops its terminal and carries it right across the baseline, holding the letters together like an underline drawn by hand. Small corner notes name the foundry and the classification and a trademark mark sits at the end of the word. Because the tail is a single glyph, the shape of the mark changes with the first letter of whatever you type, and that is worth checking before designing an identity around it.

Concrete hierarchy, scale and production guidance tailored to Cottem’s stroke geometry.
The sweeping tail gives a one-word name a graphic gesture without a symbol, and the bold lowercase reads clearly on a bag at shelf distance.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Print a 90 by 150 mm bag label: set the brand at 30 pt on one row, keep 14 mm of clear ground beneath before the roast note at 7 pt, and keep 8 mm to the bag edge so the tail is not clipped.
Pre-production check
The tail extends past the word; check the artwork before the bag is printed at full size. Print a sample and re-check it at final size.
The bold lowercase holds a cover line at newsstand distance, and the single swash gives the page a graphic idea without an illustration.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Print a 210 by 280 mm cover: set the cover line at 88 pt on one row, keep 22 mm of clear ground beneath before the standfirst at 11 pt, and keep 18 mm of margin from the trim edge.
Pre-production check
Heavy strokes can fill on uncoated stock; check the proof on the chosen paper first. Ask the printer for a sample at the finished size.
The mark reads as one object from a distance, and the flat tail survives a vinyl cut where a thin script would break apart.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Print a 1200 by 400 mm panel: set the festival name at 140 pt on one row, keep 32 mm of clear ground beneath before the dates at 20 pt, and keep 34 mm of border so the tail stays on the panel.
Pre-production check
Fine joins in the tail bridge on vinyl; check a weeding test before the panel run. Confirm it on a printed sample, not on screen.
Technical & licence verification
Confirm included OTF/TTF/WOFF formats, full glyph tables and licence coverage on the live store page before batch production.
