Fine grain and micro-texture excel in 300 DPI print, sublimation, and screen print rather than small vinyl weeding.
Visual anatomy & craft review
Every letter is squared: the C opens to a straight bracket, the H joins two heavy stems with a thick bar, the E holds three even arms with square ends, and the R carries a straight leg. The face is drawn as an outline around an inner border, which lets a designer fill the body in one colour and the border in another without redrawing anything. The distressed twin repeats the same skeleton with worn edges and broken hatching, so a pair of words can sit between clean and worn without a change of shape. Weight is uniform and the counters are narrow and open. The dark ground, the gold and white fills, the faint watermark and the two caption lines are presentation; the typeface is the words and the announced pair of styles.

Concrete hierarchy, scale and production guidance tailored to Cheer’s stroke geometry.
The outlined varsity construction lets a squad fill the letters with their own colour, and the distressed twin gives the same banner a worn, athletic edge.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Set the squad name at 80 mm on a 1.4 m banner, use the clean outline for the name and the distressed twin for the subtitle at 40 mm, and leave 40 mm at each end.
Pre-production check
A two-colour outlined banner needs accurate registration; check the press pull and keep the inner border at least 3 mm wide at final size.
The pair lets one order carry a crisp headline and a worn second line, which is how most school spirit designs are built from a single typeface family.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Set the school name in the clean outline at 70 mm across a 260 mm chest, set the year in the distressed twin at 30 mm, and keep 20 mm between the lines.
Pre-production check
Distressed edges under 1 mm disappear in screen print; check a pull on the shirt and simplify the wear pattern rather than the letters.
The varsity outline gives a yearbook spread its athletic voice at print size, and the outlined construction lets a light fill sit over a photograph.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Set the header at 50 pt across a spread, fill the body in a light tint and the border in the team colour, and hold 18 mm below the header before the photo caption.
Pre-production check
A light fill over a photograph loses contrast; check the spread proof and keep the header on the darker half of the image.
