Visual anatomy & craft review
Amigos is a high-contrast Chicano script whose letters launch multi-looped plumes from the A, g and s, ending in teardrop curls borrowed from tattoo flash. Contrast is dramatic, with hairline exits and heavy shaded downstrokes, so the face is a graphic in itself and needs a size where the hairlines can survive, roughly 30 mm. The flourishes sit outside the main word and must be given room in the layout rather than cropped. It is an impact face for backs, banners and covers, and it is at its worst when a long phrase forces the loops to collide.

Exaggerated plumes read as a hand-painted tattoo flash sheet, which is the reference a streetwear back print wants. Heavy shaded downstrokes hold under DTF where a uniform script would look flat.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Back print 320 x 420 mm, word 150 mm with 40 mm plumes each side, 35 mm margins. Mirror decal 600 x 400 mm, word 120 mm. Bottle label 90 x 110 mm, word 20 mm, 5 mm top arc.
Pre-production check
DTF transfers detail finely but a hairline exit under 0.4 mm breaks after a few washes. Use the plumes on the back print only, keep small labels to the heavy core of the word, and wash one sample three times.
The plume-and-teardrop vocabulary is the visual language of lowrider culture, so a club banner reads authentically instead of borrowed. High contrast separates the word from a photographic background without an outline.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Windshield banner 1200 x 250 mm, word 160 mm, 40 mm side margins, curve template at 12 mm. Cover 312 x 312 mm, word 150 mm, credits 8 pt. Poster A2, word 320 mm, details 22/30 pt.
Pre-production check
Windshield banners are cut to a curve and a long plume at the end of the word will be trimmed off. Provide a curve template to the cutter and keep 60 mm clear at each end before approving the cut.
Bold script carries across a hot, busy environment where a modern sans would disappear, and the plumes give a summer event poster movement without illustration. One-colour printing keeps a flyer run cheap.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Flyer A5, word 110 mm across the head, lineup 10/13 pt in two 60 mm columns, 12 mm margins. Neon card 148 x 105 mm, word 60 mm in one spot, 10 mm margins. Poster 500 x 700 mm, word 280 mm, 40 mm margins, 14 mm bleed.
Pre-production check
Flyers stacked on a counter scuff at the edges and a heavy solid script shows the wear first. Print on 150 gsm with a light matt varnish, and keep the word 12 mm clear of the trim.
