Elegant retro serif with tall ascenders
Velenor is an elegant retro serif in olive on cream: tall ascenders, wide bowls, high contrast and long flat serifs, set among four-point stars on a page with soft leaf shadows falling across it.

Visual anatomy & craft review
The word runs on one line and the face is a retro serif with a fashion temperament: the ascender of the l and the h rise well above the cap line, the bowls of the e and the o are wide and nearly circular, the contrast between the thick stems and the thin joins is pronounced, and the serifs are long and flat rather than bracketed. The V opens wide with a thin left stroke, the R carries a curved leg that ends in a fine point, and the letters are spaced generously, which gives the word the air of a printed title. Fine hairlines link the strokes at the joins, so a word set large shows a rhythm of thick and thin rather than an even weight. Four small four-point stars are placed around the word, and soft shadows of leaves fall across the cream page. Velenor is a serif for editorial titles, packaging, labels and invitations with a retro-luxury feel, and it needs a large size and a plain ground so the hairlines survive.

A retro serif with tall ascenders gives a narrow bottle the look of a printed aperitif label, and the hairlines read as elegance rather than fuss.

A contrasted serif titles a design collection without a modern edge, and the generous spacing holds a long word at cover size.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Print a 210 by 280 mm cover: set the title at 66 pt on one line, keep 26 mm of clear ground beneath before the year at 12 pt, and hold 18 mm of margin on all four sides.

A retro serif gives wedding stationery a contemporary take on formality, and the tall ascenders keep two long names from feeling crowded.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
