Tracing letter-formation display

Tracing Fun

Tracing Fun is a letter-formation display in blue on cream: outlined letters with dashed centre lines, arrows marking the stroke direction, and a second lower-case set with the same construction, sold with animal doodles, so the plate reads as a classroom worksheet rather than a typeface.

Visual anatomy & craft review

Letterform structure
of Tracing Fun.

The specimen shows the idea twice: upper case and lower case, each drawn as an outline with a dotted path through the middle and small arrows at the start of every stroke, which is exactly how a handwriting worksheet teaches sequence. The letterforms are simple, upright and open, with a single-storey a and a straight-tailed g, so a child can follow the path without ambiguity. Because the face is an outline with a dotted centre, it reads only at a generous size, and the plate sets both sets large on a pale ground with a blue banner above and below. The animal doodles in the banner and at the corners are part of the product, and the caption names the use in plain language rather than as a style boast.

Practical applications

Project & layout
blueprints.

Concrete hierarchy, scale and production guidance tailored to Tracing Fun’s stroke geometry.

Classroom & school

Worksheet set for early years

A tracing face turns a worksheet into a lesson, and the arrows and dashed centre line give a teacher the sequence without writing instructions on every sheet.

Hierarchy & layout recipe

A4 sheet: eight letters at 30 mm cap height, a 0.6 mm outline and a 0.4 mm dashed centre, with 15 mm between letters. Keep 20 mm margins and print one ink on white so the dashes stay visible through a pencil.

Pre-production check

Check the 30 mm letters, where the dashed centre can break; keep the dash at 0.4 mm with 2 mm gaps. Confirm the sheet photocopies clearly at 90 percent and that a child's pencil line fits inside the outline.

Classroom & school

Name-practice card for a classroom

A child's own name set in a tracing face is more motivating than a generic worksheet, and the arrow guides keep the stroke order consistent with what the teacher demonstrates.

Hierarchy & layout recipe

A5 card: the name at 24 mm cap height with a 0.5 mm outline, printed three times at 20 mm leading so the child can trace and then copy. Keep 15 mm margins and laminate one copy as a reusable board.

Pre-production check

Check the 24 mm name, where a capital with a crossbar can confuse the stroke order; start every stroke with an arrow. Confirm the laminated version wipes clean and that the three repeats align on a common left edge.

Workbook for a tutoring service

A tracing display gives a tutoring workbook a consistent method across pages, and the outlined construction prints in one ink so a small run stays affordable.

Hierarchy & layout recipe

A5 workbook page: the model letters at 20 mm, a blank practice row at the same size, and the instructions at 9 pt. Keep 18 mm margins and print one colour on an uncoated stock so a pencil takes to the paper.

Pre-production check

Check the 20 mm model letters on uncoated stock, where the outline can bleed; keep the line weight at 0.5 mm. Confirm the 9 pt instructions read at arm's length and that a pencil erases without tearing the page.
