Visual anatomy & craft review
Spooky is a playful bouncy Halloween script with PUA swashes: a connected brush-marker script with a jumpy baseline, small spiked terminals and a large swash set that runs off the first and last letters. The bounce grows the word vertically and the PUA swashes need the alternate keystrokes to appear at all. It needs roughly 26 mm for the spike and the bounce to read, and it is best in one warm orange or purple on white, or a single bone ink on black where the spikes stay visible.

A bouncy spiked script reads as a hand-lettered invitation rather than a printed template, which is what a house party wants. The bounce holds at 26 mm, and one orange ink prints the invite, the labels and the door sign in one pass.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Invite A6, word 26 mm with 8 mm swash clearance, details 8/11 pt, 12 mm margins. Bag label 80 x 50 mm, word 14 mm, 5 mm margins. Door sign 250 x 350 mm, word 60 mm, 20 mm margins.
Pre-production check
A 80 x 50 mm bag label at 14 mm closes the spiked terminal into a blob and the word reads as a smear. Raise the label word to 20 mm, and print one label before the batch.
A bouncy script with spiked terminals reads as a hand-painted autumn poster rather than a modern flyer. The swash holds at 110 mm on a poster, and one warm ink prints the poster, the tickets and the cider labels in one order.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Poster A2, word 110 mm with 12 mm swash clearance, details 34 mm, 20 mm margins. Ticket 100 x 50 mm, word 12 mm, 4 mm perforation. Cider label 80 x 60 mm, word 16 mm, 5 mm margins.
Pre-production check
A 100 x 50 mm ticket at 12 mm merges the bounce into a wave and the word reads as a ribbon. Raise the ticket to 18 mm, and check one ticket before the batch.
A playful spiked script gives a seasonal bar a hand-painted board rather than a printed menu, which is what a pop-up wants in October. The bounce holds at 60 mm on a board, and one ink prints the board and the coasters in one order.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Menu board 600 x 900 mm, word 100 mm with 12 mm swash clearance, items 26 mm, 30 mm margins. Coaster 95 mm square, word 14 mm, 5 mm die margin. Card 85 x 55 mm, word 14 mm, 5 mm margins.
Pre-production check
On a 95 mm coaster the swash runs into the die edge and the blade clips the tail. Keep the word 6 mm inside the die, and cut one coaster before the batch.
