Visual anatomy & craft review

Letterform structure
of Split Rose Flower Monogram.

Split Rose Flower Monogram is a botanical initial font in which each letter stands on a split pedestal bar with a drawn rose bouquet: a thin engraved stem, a cluster of roses in the upper corner, a split bar under the letter and a small leaf pair at the base. The bouquet is the design and closes first when the monogram shrinks. It needs roughly 34 mm for the rose petals and the split bar to read, and it is best in one fine ink on smooth card, or a foil impression above 40 mm where the petals still separate.

Thank you

Thank-you monogram card, tag and seal

A rose-bouquet monogram reads as a printed calling card rather than a modern logo, which is what a wedding stationer wants in a thank-you set. The petals hold at 34 mm, and one fine ink prints the card, the tag and the seal in one order.

Hierarchy & layout recipe

Card 85 x 55 mm, monogram 34 mm with 8 mm petal clearance, details 7/9 pt, 5 mm margins. Tag 50 x 90 mm, monogram 26 mm, 5 mm hole with 8 mm clear. Seal 38 mm round, monogram 22 mm, 3 mm die margin.

Pre-production check

A 38 mm seal at 22 mm fills the rose cluster into a dark disc and the initial is lost under wax. Use the initial alone on seals, and print one sheet before the batch.

Wedding

Invitation crest, menu header and place card

A botanical monogram gives a wedding a crest that reads as engraved stationery rather than a printed logo. The bouquet holds at 30 mm on an invitation, and one fine ink keeps the petals separated on smooth card.

Hierarchy & layout recipe

Invitation 130 x 180 mm, crest 30 mm with 8 mm petal clearance, names 12 pt, details 9/13 pt, 15 mm margins. Menu 120 x 210 mm, header monogram 24 mm, courses 9/12 pt. Place card 90 x 50 mm, monogram 18 mm, name 11 pt.

Pre-production check

At 18 mm on a place card the split bar closes into a solid rule and the initial reads as a blot. Raise place cards to 24 mm or drop the crest to an initial, and proof one card before the suite.

Brand & packaging

Florist identity, card and box stamp

A rose monogram reads as a drawn floral mark rather than a corporate logo, which is what a florist wants on a box. The bouquet holds at 26 mm on a card, and one ink prints the card and the stamp in one order.

Hierarchy & layout recipe

Card 85 x 55 mm, monogram 26 mm with 6 mm petal clearance, details 7/9 pt, 5 mm margins. Box stamp 100 x 60 mm, monogram 30 mm, 6 mm margins. Ribbon band 200 x 25 mm, monogram 18 mm, 5 mm margins.

Pre-production check

A 200 x 25 mm band at an 18 mm monogram crosses the fold and splits when the ribbon is wrapped. Keep the mark 8 mm clear of the crease, and wrap one band before the order.
