Death metal logo display
Ravenous is a death metal display in white on a dark forest: letters reduced to branching thorny strokes that merge into a single vertical mass, with a caption cut in a small gothic that names the style and the studio.

Fine grain and micro-texture excel in 300 DPI print, sublimation, and screen print rather than small vinyl weeding.
Visual anatomy & craft review
The specimen makes no attempt to be read at a glance, and that is the design: each letter becomes a cluster of tapering branches that rise from a shared baseline, the stems connect to their neighbours, and the only way to parse the word is to follow the tallest spikes. The whole lockup is symmetrical in mass but not in detail, which is the convention of the genre, and the white on a dim forest photograph gives the shape maximum contrast against a soft background. Everything else on the page is deliberately restrained: a tracked gothic for the introduction, another for the caption, and a small credit line, so the logo is the only complex form. The face is a single display cut, and the sample is honest about its limits by using it only at the size of a band logo.

Concrete hierarchy, scale and production guidance tailored to Ravenous’s stroke geometry.
A death metal logo sets the genre instantly and gives a small venue poster the credibility of a scene flyer, which a decorative gothic cannot match.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
A2 portrait: the logo at 200 mm wide, the line-up in a 12 mm gothic, and the date at 30 mm. Keep the logo on flat black, leave 40 mm of clear space beneath it, and print one ink so the thorns stay crisp.
Pre-production check
Check the logo at full size, where thorny tips under 0.5 mm will disappear in print; thicken the outer branches. Confirm the 12 mm line-up reads at two metres and that the logo's lowest spikes clear the date line by 20 mm.
A logo-grade display gives a book about the scene an authentic cover, and using it once at full width keeps the reference clear rather than decorative.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Set the title at 150 mm wide on a 240 mm cover, the subtitle in a 9 pt gothic beneath, and the author in 8 pt caps at the foot. Print white on a dark matte stock so the thorns read as sharp lines rather than as texture.
Pre-production check
Check the title at thumbnail size, where the logo reads as a black mass; add a small legible subtitle so the book is still identifiable online. Confirm the 8 pt author name survives the matte lamination and that the title clears the trim.
A logo-grade face is exactly what band merchandise needs, and the single-colour construction keeps a screen print affordable for a small run.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Print a 300 mm chest graphic: the logo at 240 mm wide in one ink on a dark shirt, the tour line in a 6 mm gothic beneath, and a 2 mm border. Keep the thinnest branches at least 1.2 mm so the screen does not break them.
Pre-production check
Check the screen at actual mesh, where branches under 1 mm will not hold; thicken or simplify them for the print. Wash-test one shirt and confirm the 6 mm tour line stays legible after the first wash.
