Upright sans capitals and slanted signature
Pacific Beach is a duo: wide upright sans capitals with thin strokes and generous tracking, paired with a slanted brush signature that is set across them.

Visual anatomy & craft review
PACIFIC fills the card in wide, thin sans capitals, and the letters are spaced so far apart that the word reads as a horizon rather than as a label: the P and the C are drawn with a very light stroke, and the gaps between letters are as wide as the letters themselves. Beach is written in a slanted brush script that overlaps the lower halves of the capitals and runs out to the right, so the two voices cross rather than stack. The ground is white with a faint photographic frond behind the lettering, and two captions above and below name the pair. The duo is a coastal design combination for packaging, signage and editorial: the sans carries a word that has to be read at a distance, the signature carries a personal line, and the overlap needs a careful check because the script covers parts of the capitals at small sizes.

Concrete hierarchy, scale and production guidance tailored to Pacific Beach’s stroke geometry.
The wide sans reads down a beach, and the signature crossing it gives a plain board the two-voice layout a decorator would build by hand.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Print a 600 by 400 mm board: set the main word at 120 pt in the sans, set the signature at 60 pt crossing the lower third with 24 mm of clear ground beneath, and hold 22 mm of border.
Pre-production check
The script covers the base of the capitals at small sizes; print one board at the final size and check every letter is still readable before the set.
A tracked sans over a slanted signature is a magazine cover idea in two elements, and it holds up against a photograph where a script alone would not.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Print a 230 by 300 mm cover: set the cover word at 90 pt in the sans with wide tracking, set the signature at 46 pt beneath with 22 mm of clear ground, and hold 20 mm of margin on all sides.
Pre-production check
Thin sans strokes can disappear over a busy photograph; print one cover and check every letter separates from the image before the run.
The pair lets a menu carry a heading and a short line in one voice, and the tracking keeps a long heading inside a narrow card.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Print a 130 by 210 mm menu: set the heading at 34 pt in the sans, set the courses at 9.5 pt with 16 mm of clear ground, and hold 14 mm of margin on both sides.
Pre-production check
A thin sans at 34 pt on uncoated card loses weight; print one menu on the intended stock and check the stroke before the set.
