Visual anatomy & craft review

Letterform structure
of Hello Rainbow.

ABCDEF fills the top row and 123456 the row beneath, and each glyph is a fat rounded letter filled with a different print: a pink letter with white dots, a black and white checkerboard, a rainbow stripe running diagonally, a green with a printed texture, an orange with a woven pattern and a blue with bubbles. Each one has a heavy black outline that holds it apart from its neighbours, and the letters are set tight with small overlaps, so the row reads as a sheet of stickers. A badge at the lower left states the count and the formats, and small captions at the top and foot name the set. The rule of the design is one pattern per letter, and it works because the outline is consistent: a word in these letters looks assembled rather than written, which suits craft projects and school-age designs.

Practical applications

Project & layout
blueprints.

Concrete hierarchy, scale and production guidance tailored to Hello Rainbow’s stroke geometry.

Classroom & school

Cover for a pupil's project folder

A short title in these letters looks like a sheet of stickers, and the heavy outline keeps each shape separate on a busy cover.

Hierarchy & layout recipe

Print an A4 folder cover: set the subject at 54 pt on one row, keep 18 mm of clear ground beneath before the name at 12 pt, and hold 20 mm of border so no outline is trimmed.

Pre-production check

The patterns are dense and turn to noise below 30 pt; print one cover at the finished size and check the checkerboard.

Birthday

Sign for a pre-teen birthday

The mixed patterns suit a party where nothing matches on purpose, and a short name fills the front of the sign in one line.

Hierarchy & layout recipe

Print a 400 by 300 mm board: set the name at 80 pt on one row, keep 22 mm of clear ground beneath before the time at 12 pt, and hold 24 mm of border on all four sides.

Pre-production check

Colour patterns look different on foam board; print one sign on the intended material and check the tones before the set.

Brand & packaging

Sticker sheet for a craft shop

The face is already a sticker sheet, so a short word reads as merchandise, and the patterns give a small shop a range of colours without a design system.

Hierarchy & layout recipe

Print a 55 mm round sticker: set the shop name at 16 pt on one row, keep 6 mm of clear ground beneath before the street at 4.5 pt, and hold 5 mm from the outline to the die edge.

Pre-production check

Dense patterns fill in on small die cuts; print one sticker on the real vinyl and check the shapes first.
