Plain upright mixed case with broad open curves and a compact t crossbar
Exalted is a neo-grotesque in the plain sense: even strokes, closed apertures, horizontal terminals and nothing decorative, set in black on a yellow field as a specimen cover.

Sturdy stroke walls and open counters weed cleanly on adhesive vinyl, HTV apparel film, and cut cardstock.
Visual anatomy & craft review
The name runs across the centre in mixed case, the E and the x squared off, the a keeping a two-storey bowl and the t a short flat bar. Under it a tracked line names the two cuts, regular and italic, and the corner notes credit the designer and the publisher. Yellow is the only colour on the page, and the letterforms are the only shape, so the cover relies on spacing and weight rather than on a graphic idea. A face like this is judged on how it behaves at small sizes and in long text, and the specimen honestly shows that it is meant as a neutral workhorse rather than a display voice.

Concrete hierarchy, scale and production guidance tailored to Exalted’s stroke geometry.
The even strokes and closed apertures hold up in continuous text, and the neutral voice lets photographs and headlines carry the page.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Print a 148 by 210 mm page: set the body at 9.5 pt with 13 pt leading, keep 14 mm of clear ground at the outer margin before the folio at 8 pt, and keep 16 mm of margin from the trim edge.
Pre-production check
Long settings expose awkward pairs; check a full page of text before the issue is signed. Test it on the real material before the run is booked.
The plain grotesque reads as competent rather than fashionable, which suits a studio that sells analysis instead of style.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Print a 55 by 90 mm card: set the studio name at 12 pt on one row, keep 7 mm of clear ground beneath before the contact line at 6 pt, and keep 6 mm of margin so nothing is trimmed at the edge.
Pre-production check
Small caps tracking needs adjusting by eye; check the printed card before ordering. Verify the result on the printed piece, then approve.
A neutral sans keeps a long catalogue consistent, and the closed shapes stay legible in a dense list that is printed at speed.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Print an A4 catalogue page: set the section heading at 18 pt on one row, keep 8 mm of clear ground beneath before the list at 9 pt, and keep 14 mm of margin from the text block on both sides.
Pre-production check
Dense lists fill on cheap paper; check a proof on the actual catalogue stock first. Print a sample and re-check it at final size.
Technical & licence verification
Confirm included OTF/TTF/WOFF formats, full glyph tables and licence coverage on the live store page before batch production.
