Letterform structure
of The Original Script.
The specimen sets The small and Original large, and the face is a sign-painter script: the O opens as a wide loop, the r and the i are narrow, the g drops a loop that returns under the word, the n and the a are round and the final l lifts into a thin exit, while the whole line leans forward and the joins are fat enough that the letters touch. A single thin underline is drawn beneath the word as part of the composition, which is the device the face is sold with, and it echoes the underline of a painted car door. Small red crosses sit at the corners of the block and a round red badge marks the release. The ground is a dark textured sheet with three tracked lines naming the studio and the inspiration. The Original Script is a display script for signage, packaging, apparel and covers, and it needs a wide measure for the underline.
