Purgatory is an expressive signature script drawn with a marker pen at a firm slant, so the letters connect in one continuous stroke, the thick-thin shift comes from pen pressure and the baseline lifts between words. The slant pushes each word forward and the long connectors need horizontal room. It needs roughly 24 mm for the pressure shift to read, and it is best in one wet black on white or in a single warm ink on oatmeal, and it should never be set in all caps.
