Letterform structure
of Luxodia Signature.
The sample sets two lines, a thin uppercase word over a small lowercase one, and the face is a signature script rather than a text hand: the strokes are hairlines throughout, the capitals rise to needle points, the lowercase sits much smaller between them, and the loops do not stay inside the word, they escape as long ellipses to the left and right of the line so the composition is wider than the word it spells. The joins are continuous and the slant is upright at the top and drifting at the bottom, which gives the look of a pen dragged across paper without lifting. The hairlines cross the word itself in two places, and a small tracked paragraph and a caption name the alternates and the designer. The ground is a plain off-white. Luxodia Signature is a signature face for logotypes, invitation fronts and editorial title pages, and it needs an enormous amount of horizontal room and a size at which the hairlines still print.
