Elegance serif with swashes
Shifer Blastone is an elegance serif in cream over a portrait photograph: high contrast, fine stems, ball terminals and long swashes that leave the first letters and curve under the words, with a small italic beneath and a flower ornament at the foot.

Crisp hairline serifs shine on stationery, foil stamping, and packaging; add slight offset for small decals.
Visual anatomy & craft review
The two words are stacked and the drawing is a contrasted serif with attached flourishes: the first letters open with a curled entry, the second line ends in a tail that sweeps under the block, and the ball terminals mark the stroke endings. That construction makes the face a display cut, and the specimen sets it large enough for the swashes to read as shapes rather than as noise. The small italic line beneath the block is set in the same family at a fraction of the size, which shows the companion cut. Because the type sits over a photograph, the plate is a contrast test, and the cream holds because it is placed over the darker side of the frame. The flower ornament is period furniture.

Concrete hierarchy, scale and production guidance tailored to Shifer Blastone’s stroke geometry.
A swashed serif reads as premium beauty, and the drawn tails give a short brand name a signature that holds on a carton and a bottle.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Set the mark at 22 pt on a carton, 85 mm on a shop panel and 12 pt on a card, keeping the swashes only above 18 pt. Keep one colour and reserve clear space equal to the x-height.
Pre-production check
Check the 12 pt card mark, where a swash can close the line above; drop it at that size. Confirm the shop panel reads at six metres and that the tail survives a matte finish.
A contrasted serif with swashes gives a formal invitation a drawn flourish, and the high contrast holds on a heavy card with foil.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
A5 invitation: the names at 28 pt with the swashes engaged, the request in a 10 pt serif, and the date at 9 pt caps. Keep 24 mm margins so the tails have room, and foil one colour on a deep card.
Pre-production check
Check the 28 pt names in foil, where hairlines can break; keep them above 0.3 mm. Confirm the 10 pt request reads at arm's length and that the tail clears the trim by 10 mm.
A swashed serif gives a fashion cover movement, and the fine contrast holds at thumbnail size where a heavier display would clot.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Set the masthead at 110 mm cap height across 210 mm, the cover lines in an 8 pt serif, and the issue at 7 pt. Print cream over a photograph and keep the type over the darkest area.
Pre-production check
Check the masthead at 110 mm, where swashes can collide with the cover lines; keep 12 mm clear. Confirm the 7 pt issue survives lamination and that the masthead holds at thumbnail size.
