Organic thin handwriting with a long underlining swash
Modernline is an organic handwriting script in which the stroke stays very light, the letters lean gently and a single swash underlines the word, so a name reads as a pencil line drawn quickly on paper.

Visual anatomy & craft review
The m keeps three even arches, the o stays an open loop, the d rises into a light stem, the e turns a small eye, the r finishes a fine arm and the n repeats the arch, all at one light stroke with a modest slant, a low x-height and a drawn line running beneath the whole word. The underline is the character: it is part of the word rather than a rule added by the designer, which is why the sample sets one word with nothing else at that size. Because the stroke is very light, the face needs 26 pt upward and a smooth ground, and it greys out on textured stock. The paper texture, the soft shadow behind the word and the small caps beneath are presentation; the dark script word is the face.

The light drawn underline gives a photography studio a quiet mark, and the even stroke holds a name at 24 pt on a coated card in one ink.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Print a 90 by 50 mm card: set the studio name at 24 pt with the swash running beneath, set the contact block in a 6 pt sans at the foot, and keep 12 mm of white so the underline is not crowded.
Pre-production check
A hairline underline printed at 24 pt on an uncoated card greys out; check the card and specify a coated stock if the line fades.
The organic stroke suits a summer save-the-date, and the underline ties a long pair of names into one gesture at 28 pt on smooth card.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Print a 148 by 105 mm card: set both names at 28 pt with the swash beneath, set the date in an 8 pt caps serif 18 mm below the line, and keep 16 mm of margin.
Pre-production check
A swash printed across a fold cracks on the crease; check the folded card and keep the whole lockup on one flat panel.
The script ends a long read quietly, and the light underline gives the quote a closing gesture at 26 pt on a printed page.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Print an A4 page: set the sign-off at 26 pt at the end of the column, keep 14 mm of clear space above, and let the underline run to the right margin rather than to a fixed width.
Pre-production check
An underline running into body copy reads as a paragraph rule; check the proof and keep 10 mm of clear space below the swash.
