Compact rounded serif
Recoleta is a compact rounded serif in white on a dark textured ground: mixed case with soft angled inner cuts, tapered serif ends, thick stems and short ascenders, set as one word at a modest size in the middle of a large sheet.

Visual anatomy & craft review
The word is set small relative to the sheet, which is a confident way to present a text-capable serif: it says the face does not need to shout. The drawing is a compact serif with rounded terminals and tapered ends, and the inner cuts are angled rather than straight, which gives a contemporary face a friendly softness. That construction makes the face usable at body sizes as well as display, and the plate sets it at a size where the joins can be judged. The dark textured ground is staging that makes the white sit forward. Because the forms are rounded and compact, the face suits a menu, a label and a heading, and it holds up in a paragraph, which matters for a buyer choosing one face for a small brand.

A warm rounded serif gives a cafe a mark and a working face at once, which matters on a small licence. One licence should cover a mark and a menu.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Set the name at 18 pt on a card, 90 mm on a wall and 9.5 pt in a menu body, using one cut. Keep one colour and clear space equal to the cap height on all sides.
Pre-production check
Check the 9.5 pt menu body in a proof, where a rounded join can fill; keep the size at 9.5 pt or above. Confirm the wall name reads at eight metres and that the cuts stay open.
A rounded serif gives a food cover warmth, and the compact forms keep a long subtitle readable at small size. Warmth sells food before flavour does.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Set the title at 70 mm cap height across 190 mm, the subtitle at 10 pt, and the issue at 8 pt. Print one ink on a matte stock and keep 22 mm margins. Keep the subtitle on one line at 10 pt.
Pre-production check
Check the title at 70 mm, where a tapered end can look blunt; keep it consistent. Confirm the 8 pt issue survives lamination and that the title clears the trim.
A rounded serif reads as formal without stiffness, which suits a relaxed ceremony and a long guest list. A relaxed wedding needs a relaxed serif.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
A5 invitation: the names at 26 pt, the request at 10 pt, and the date at 8.5 pt caps. Keep 24 mm margins and letterpress one ink on a cotton card. Leave 16 mm at the foot for the RSVP line.
Pre-production check
Check the 10 pt request in letterpress, where a rounded join can sink; proof the plate first. Confirm the names read at arm's length and that the text clears the trim.
