Ornamented script with heavy shading, curled terminals and a wide swash base
Brittany is an ornamented script with heavy shaded stems, tightly curled terminals and a wide swash that sweeps under the second word, drawn to look like a printed signature on an old certificate.

Visual anatomy & craft review
The capital B opens with a heavy vertical and two lobes whose terminals curl inward, and every letter after it keeps that shaded weight: the stems are thick, the joins are thin but never hairline, and the counters close to narrow openings. The t and the y finish in small curled hooks, and the final y drops a loop that turns back into a long swash running left under the whole word, which acts as a decorative baseline. That swash, along with the curled entry on the S, is what gives the face its engraved, certificate-like character. Weight contrast is high but the joins stay sturdy enough to print small. The cream ground and the tracked caption below are presentation; the script is the two words.

The ornamented shading gives an anniversary invitation the weight of a printed certificate, and the swash base lets two words sit as one composed mark rather than a line of text.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Set the names at 24 pt on a 120 by 180 mm card, set the details in a small caps serif at 8 pt, and hold 12 mm under the swash so the date block has its own space.
Pre-production check
A thin join between thick stems needs a clean plate; ask for a plate proof and confirm the joins do not fill at the final size before the run.
The engraved quality suits a heritage product, and the heavy shading holds up in foil where a light script would thin into the background.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Set the brand at 16 pt on a 45 by 80 mm label, keep the cocoa percentage in a tracked caps serif at 6 pt, and leave 7 mm under the swash so the ingredients block is not crowded.
Pre-production check
Foil bridges tight joins; check a foil dummy at final size and open the y loop if the shading merges with the swash.
An ornamented script signals a document of record, which suits a family history, and the swash base gives a short title the width of a cover without extra rules.
Hierarchy & layout recipe
Set the title at 60 pt on the upper third of the cover, set the author's name in a small caps serif at 12 pt, and leave the lower half plain so the swash reads as the only ornament.
Pre-production check
A wide swash printed on a matte cover can look like a stray rule; check the proof at final size and confirm the swash is visible as part of the lettering.
